Hry officer set for central deputation

Chandigarh: In a significant development, the department of personnel and training ( DoPT ) has cleared the deputation of V Umashankar , the principal secretary to the Haryana chief minister, for appointment as secretary in the ministry of surface transport .

Umashankar, a 1993 batch IAS officer, had his deputation cleared on Saturday, according to a communication released by the appointments committee of the cabinet of DoPT. Notably, Umashankar served as principal secretary to the then CM Manohar Lal Khattar as well as Nayab Singh Saini between 2019 and 2024.

He had applied for central deputation ahead of the assembly elections as a couple case. His wife, Deepti Umashankar, is already posted on central deputation.
