Pakistan Violates Ceasefire for 10th Consecutive Night Along LoC; Indian Army Responds Firmly

Firing Reported in Eight Sectors Across Five Districts Amid Post-Pahalgam Attack Tensions

Jammu, May 4 The Pakistan Army has violated the ceasefire agreement for the 10th consecutive night, targeting forward Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. According to defence officials, small arms fire was reported late Saturday night into early Sunday from eight sectors across Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, and Jammu districts, prompting a strong and immediate response from the Indian Army.

The escalation comes in the wake of rising tensions following the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, which left 26 people dead, including several tourists. Although no injuries were reported in the latest exchange, the frequency and spread of these ceasefire violations are raising significant concerns.

Ceasefire Breach Comes After India Suspends Indus Waters Treaty

According to official sources, the Pakistani Army initiated unprovoked firing between May 3 and 4 in forward areas including Mendhar, Nowshera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor, violating the 2021 India-Pakistan ceasefire understanding, which had significantly reduced cross-border incidents until now.

The ceasefire violations began escalating shortly after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty on April 24, as part of its diplomatic and strategic response to the Pahalgam terror attack. Since then, Pakistan has:

• Closed its airspace to Indian aircraft

• Shut down the Wagah border

• Suspended all trade relations with India

• Issued threats, stating any attempt by India to alter river flows would be treated as an act of war

Border Residents on Alert, Begin Prepping Bunkers

The ongoing skirmishes have instilled fear among civilians living near the LoC. Local residents in affected areas have started clearing out community and private bunkers, preparing for potential escalations.

Authorities are on high alert and monitoring the situation closely, especially as the ceasefire violations stretch into their second week. Defence officials reaffirmed that the Indian Army remains fully prepared to defend every inch of the border and will respond decisively to any aggression.
