NEW DELHI: In a joint operation, the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police launched an anti-infiltration operation along the Line of Control (LOC) in the Uri sector of Baramulla on Sunday, after intelligence inputs about a possible infiltration attempt.
The Chinar Corps of the Army posted on X about an ongoing operation in the Baramulla. In their post, they stated: "Based on intelligence inputs regarding likely infiltration bid, a Joint anti-infiltration Operation was launched by #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice along LOC in general area Uri, #Baramulla."
"Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged, which resulted in terrorists opening indiscriminate fire. Vigilant troops responded with effective fire," the post added.
Separately, J&K Police arrested two terrorists in Poonch district . Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Anand Jain said these arrests helped solve multiple grenade attack cases.
Jain told ANI, "We have got a big achievement because we have arrested two terrorists who had carried out activities like grenade lobbying, anti-national posters were put up...Grenades were thrown at Gurudwaras, temples, hospitals, army bases."
He added that the terrorists aimed to disrupt communal harmony in the region.
Security forces also detained an individual linked to terrorism in the Dundak area of Surankote Sector on Friday, Poonch district. Police reported finding four grenades with the suspect, which could help resolve recent terror incidents in the district.
In another incident, Ashok Chauhan, a migrant labourer from Bihar, was found dead with bullet injuries on Friday in the Shopian district.
