MUMBAI: Cuddling a Golden Retriever or a Shih Tzu at the airport terminal before boarding a flight can soothe the frayed nerves of passengers anxious over the impending air travel. At the Mumbai Airport Terminal 2, a programme called ' Pawfect ' has dogs stationed at weekends to comfort anxious travellers.
"The programme features nine adorable dogs at Terminal 2, ready to greet and soothe passengers before their journey. The pack includes various breeds, such as a Golden Retriever, a Maltese, a rescued Husky, a Shih Tzu, a Lhasa Apso, a Labrador, and more, all specially trained to spread happiness and reduce stress," said a Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) spokesperson.
"From Friday to Sunday, between 3 pm and 11 pm, these lovable emotional support companions will be stationed in the Terminal 2 Departures area, including Domestic Level 3 and after immigration. The trained canine companions are skilled in detecting and responding to the moods of travellers, offering unconditional love and comfort," the airport spokesperson said. "Interacting with these furry friends provides a calming break, helping passengers to relax and ease their travel anxiety . This initiative aims to bring joy and surprise to the airport environment, acknowledging that air travel can be exhausting and stressful for some," the official added.
"The Pawfect programme is a groundbreaking initiative in an Indian airport, featuring stars like Bella, a gentle and affectionate Golden Retriever known for her warm and uplifting personality. Bella's specialised training in bringing joy to travellers and engaging with children with special needs perfectly complements her calm demeanour, creating a delightful oasis amidst the bustling airport. Together with her team, Bella continues to bring smiles and comfort to countless travellers, enhancing their experience at the Mumbai airport," the official said.
