If there's one fictional character that has made every man and woman want to become a cooking queen or maybe just get a chance to gorge on some delicious recipes, it's definitely Monica Geller from Friends. The perfectionist who many related to, the one who wanted to fall in love, the mother of the group and definitely the feeder of the group too- Monica was one character that we along with Chandler Bing couldn't help but fall in love with.
If you have been on a rewatching spree or want to recreate some of those unique recipes she made in the show, below are five easy recipes from Monica Geller's kitchen that you can follow.
Candy from 'The One With All the Candy'
Many describe Monica's famous candies as a perfect combination of caramel and chocolate and an easy recipe to make. Combine 60 g of water, 155 g of light corn syrup and 400 g of granulated sugar in a cooking pan and cook till it reaches 320 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, shut off the heat and start streaming in the mixture with 230 g of butter mixed with 230 g of cream. Cook the mixture again up to 240-245 degrees Fahrenheit. Let it cool down for at least six hours in a shaped pan covered with parchment paper and then cut the caramel into candy shapes. Now, temper some chocolate and dip the caramel candies in it. Don't forget to top off the candies with little flakes of salt.
Mac and Cheese from 'The One with Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E.'
You need 1/4 cup of butter, 2 cups of cheddar cheese, 1/2 cup of bread crumbs, 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese, 3 oz of elbow macaroni, 3 cups of milk, some paprika and 2 1/2 tbsp flour. In a pan, add the butter, flour and milk and stir. Then add the cheddar and parmesan cheese and cook until it thickens into a sauce. In a baking pan add the macaroni and pour the sauce over it and top it all off with a sprinkling of bread crumbs and paprika. Bake at 35o degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes and enjoy!
Break-up Jam from 'The One With The Jam'
Who knew the best way to get over a break-up was to make some delicious jam? Monica! Take 2lbs of strawberries, 4 cups of white sugar, and 1/4 cup of lemon juice. Mash the strawberries and cook them in a pan with white sugar and lemon juice and stir and boil until 220 degrees Fahrenheit. Let the mixture cool, transfer it into jars and refrigerate.
Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies from 'The One with the Cooking Class'
Chop 140g salted butter and heat it in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Once it turns brown and smells nutty, transfer it into a bowl and let it cool for 20-30 minutes. Add 215g of all-purpose flour to a bowl, add 1/2 tbsp of baking soda, mix and set aside. Add 145g brown sugar and 65g caster sugar to the cooled-down brown butter and mix till combined. Add 1 large egg and 1 tbsp milk to the mix. Now add the flour and mix. Add some chopped chocolate to the cookie dough and refrigerate for 1.5 hours. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes.
Lasagna from 'The One with the Dozen Lasagnas'
Of course, we saved the best for last. If you had told Monica to make vegetarian lasagnas then she would have made them, but for now, you need to try this not-so-vegetarian recipe. Take 1lb of ground beef, add 4 cups of marinara sauce and mix. In another bowl take 4 cups whole milk ricotta cheese, 2 cups of parmesan cheese, 1 tbsp of parsley, 1/4th cup basil, 1 tsp of kosher salt,1/2 tbsp black pepper, 2 tbsp olive oil, and mix. Take a lasagne baking pan and add some beef sauce into it and layer with cooked lasagne noodles, layer this with the cheese mix and some shredded mozzarella cheese on top. Repeat this until both the bowls are finished and then bake the lasagne at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25-30 minutes. Next, broil it for 1-2 minutes and serve.
