New Zealand secured a historic victory over India in the first Test of the three-match series. This marks their first Test win on Indian soil since 1988. It sealed New Zealandโs just third win on Indian soil in 37 tests. Despite a fiery spell from Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah , New Zealand chased down a target of 110 runs with eight wickets to spare on the rain-affected final day. The partnership between Will Young and Rachin Ravindra was crucial in sealing the victory.
India's first innings collapse, their lowest Test score at home (46), put them on the back foot from the start. Although they fought back with a strong second innings, New Zealand's disciplined bowling and batting performance proved too much to handle.
Ravindra, who was also named player of the match, praised his team's preparation and execution, crediting their ability to adapt to Indian conditions.
The second match in the 3-test series will be played in Pune starting (October 24) and the final match is in Mumbai from November 1.
