Sydel Curry-Lee , sister of NBA star Steph Curry , shared her thoughts on the latest episode of her podcast Straight to Cam, co-hosted with WNBA forward Cameron Brink. On episode 13, Curry-Lee admitted she was “a teensy bit disappointed” with Bueckers’ outfit choice.
“I’m a big Paige Bueckers fan,” she said. “But… I was a teensy bit disappointed, not disappointed, but like underwhelmed with her look. I thought her hair was fire... I think just last year, the white fit was just so good that it was hard to beat that.”
Curry-Lee wasn’t criticizing Bueckers personally but compared her look to past appearances, suggesting expectations were high based on Bueckers' previous fashion moments.
Bueckers, meanwhile, made headlines for much more than her outfit. She made history at UConn, becoming the first freshman woman to win the AP Player of the Year award in 2021. She averaged 19.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists over her four seasons and scored 2,439 career points, third-most in program history. She also became the fastest player in UConn history to reach both 1,000 and 2,000 career points.
Her college career ended on a high note, as she led UConn to its 12th national title in April 2025, scoring 17 points in a dominant win over South Carolina.
