Swifty or Not, Is Hopkins Overrated After Lackluster Performance?

Send Push
Well, it's finally official-after a very injury-plagued season, things are going to get very interesting for the Chiefs faithful with the signing of DeAndre Hopkins to reenergize their wide receiver unit. But he is not just another deep threat for Patrick Mahomes; he brings with him a unique combination of football talent and musical chops that rapidly is becoming the hallmark in Kansas City.

Becoming One of the SwiftiesWell, that's right—Hopkins is a Swiftie! Having Travis Kelce with him while embracing Taylor Swift is almost a must if you want to be one of the boys.

In his latest social media post, DeAndre shared this heartwarming video while cruising with his family singing along to some of the hits by Swift. It's almost as if they are part of the Chiefs' extended family already!

Signs of the Trade“Rumor has it." read the intriguing caption on the post from Hopkins, which simply featured a picture of him pulling a suitcase. Of course, that went nuts with rampant speculation online over potential trade rumors. Now that the trade is confirmed to have happened, Chiefs fans are flocking into his comments section to give him a welcome to Kansas City with open arms.

A Laid-back AnnouncementVery tellingly though, Hopkins could very well have been prophesying his move to the Chiefs even before news broke. What better way to leak the news than with a Swift sing-along? That is quite shrewdly splashing it in and getting some brownie points with Kelce.

Riding Out Injury ConcernsThis is a game in which the Chiefs' passing game will be reeling and looking for its second ace receiver after losing Rashee Rice for the season, so it could use a little DeAndre Hopkins going around from a fantasy perspective. After all, adding a five-time Pro Bowler doesn't happen every day.

The Big QuestionStill, will that be enough to overcome the high volume of injuries that had decimated the Chiefs? Frankly, Hopkins hasn't really been seen much lately, at least not in 2024, as he has caught just 15 of 30 targets for 173 yards and one touchdown in six games with the Titans. It's time for a change of pace.
