The Baltimore Ravens find themselves under a firestorm of criticism after selecting Marshall edge rusher Mike Green in the 2025 NFL Draft — a move many are calling out as hypocritical given the team's ongoing troubles surrounding kicker Justin Tucker .

Ravens called out for hypocrisy after controversial Mike Green draft pick

Mike Green, a highly rated prospect ranked No. 12 on Dane Brugler's top 100 prospects list, carries a troubling past. In 2022, he faced two sexual assault allegations in Charlottesville, though he has consistently denied any wrongdoing and was never charged. “I've done nothing wrong,” Green stated at the NFL Combine, hoping to distance himself from his past while pushing forward with his pro career.

However, the controversy was reignited by the Ravens' decision to draft him amid an already ongoing scandal involving Tucker, who is under NFL investigation after over a dozen Baltimore-area massage therapists accused him of sexual misconduct. "In the middle of Justin Tucker assaulting countless massage therapists in Baltimore, the Ravens select Mike Green," one user, @NFLDraftBites, posted, blasting the team's move. "Know the media won't hold them accountable," the tweet added, reflecting a broader sentiment of frustration among fans.

Ravens' controversial past returns to haunt them as fans call out "double standards"
Longtime critics of the Ravens were quick to point to the organization’s controversial history. References to past incidents — such as Ray Lewis ' murder charges in 2000 (later dropped) — surfaced as fans accused the team of ignoring character concerns when talent was involved. "Nothing new for the Rat Birds... Murderer, Cocaine trafficker, Deshaun Watson impersonator," another fan fumed online, tying the Ravens’ current decision-making back to their past.

While some supporters have defended Green, citing the lack of formal charges, public opinion appears sharply divided. "This country already has a justice system... and Green wasn't even charged," an X user argued, pushing back against the outrage.

A risky pick during turbulent times for Baltimore
Green’s athletic upside is undeniable: standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 248 pounds, he recorded 16.5 sacks during his college career, showcasing the kind of pass-rushing skills that the Ravens desperately need.

Yet, the optics of selecting him during Tucker’s ongoing legal troubles have led many to question the franchise’s moral compass. "The Ravens preach values but draft Green while Tucker's under fire? Hypocrites," another tweet bluntly stated.

Despite the uproar, some loyal fans are standing by the franchise. "Love to hate don't you," one tweet read, highlighting the split within the Ravens' fan base as the controversy continues to grow.
