Singer Zayn Malik has cancelled the U.S. leg of his 'Stairway to the Sky' tour following tragic news that heralded his former One Direction band member Liam Payne's expulsion from it.

Just one week before he was set to kick off the U.S. leg of his tour, starting with a show in San Francisco, Payne, 31, died in Argentina under tragic circumstances-it is believed that he jumped from a hotel balcony.

The singer of 'I Don't Wanna Live Forever' took to social media announcing that he "lost a brother". The U.S. stops of the tour included major cities such as Las Vegas, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and New York. Malik said in X, formerly known as Twitter, that "all tickets will be valid for the new date" for those who have already bought tickets.

Malik marked the death of Payne by posting a public heartfelt tribute over the weekend, reminiscing on the bonds they had as friends over their One Direction days. The emotional message could not help but pour out the man's anguish as he wrote, "I lost a brother when you left us and can't explain to you what I'd give to just give you a hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly and tell you that I loved and respected you dearly."

Malik shared his deep pain regarding the loss of someone whom he considers more than a brother, grieved that he never got the opportunity to say goodbye and that no one could remember to tell Payne how much he was appreciated.

Payne and Malik have been known internationally when they were a part of the boy band, One Direction, which was formed in 2010 on 'The X Factor' with the other band members Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan. Malik left the group to pursue his solo music career in 2015 and technically it went into hiatus in 2016.

Liam Payne is survived by his family, including parents, sisters, and a seven-year-old son, whom he shared with singer Cheryl.
