Kanpur: District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh on Saturday conducted a random inspection at primary school Harha village and was surprised that basic education department had not inspected the school in over last two years.
Annoyed, the DM mentioned in his report that the officers who were supposed to inspect the education department and write their report in the inspection register so that the quality of education continues to improve, did work on it.
He observed that only 26 children were registered there as students and only 15 were present. There had been a decline in the number of children in the last two years and in October 2023, even fewer children were seen than the number of children two years ago (41), despite the government's ‘school chalo campaign' and other ways to motivate students to attend school. In this regard, the teachers told that some efforts had been made by them too. One teacher named Sapna and her colleagues were there, but students were absent.
As per rules, a sample of the mid-day meal ahould be kept at schools, which was not available and could thus not be reviewed, he said.tnn
