Indore: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) had installed sirens across the city to alert residents to act in accordance with guidelines issued by the administration.
According to IMC Commissioner Shivam Verma, 12 sirens were purchased for Indore city and two for Dr Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow). The sirens, costing around Rs 50,000 each, were installed at strategic locations on BSNL towers. "For the blackout that was planned from 7:30 pm to 7:42 pm, the sirens went off at the timing set for them. The sound range of the sirens was two to 5 km," he said.
Throughout the day, local police units used public announcement systems installed at major squares to inform residents about drills, ensuring that the public remained calm and cooperative.
The situation was closely monitored by senior officials throughout the day, with continuous communication maintained between the control room, police headquarters, and Mhow through satellite and remote communication systems. After completing the mock drills, the officials were seen communicating with the headquarters, briefing them about the successful completion.
