Goa Woman, Who Flies IndiGo, Blown Away by Her First Vistara Flight: 'Smelt Good, Fancy Interior'

Send Push

A South Goa woman, who usually flies IndiGo airlines, has revealed her experience from her first-ever Vistara flight. Tanvi Raut Dessai, a content creator, admitted to being blown away by the cabin, which was a departure from the utilitarian, low-budget flight cabins, not unlike what IndiGo loyalists are used to.“[I] flew Vistara for the first time and my IndiGo brains found it surprising. Smelt good, fancy interiors. We the people deserve more of this,” she said in an X post.Dessai added that she had originally booked Air India, but ended up flying Vistara. Either way, the passenger was in for a surprise.

It appears from Dessai’s posting that the aircraft was equipped with in-flight entertainment and had warm, purple cabin lights themed on the full-service airline’s livery.By contrast, IndiGo operates no-frills domestic flights that do not have seatback screens for watching films or TV shows.Meals or snacks are also included on Vistara flights, depending on the duration. As for IndiGo, fliers are charged for food and beverages outside of fare. All good things, however, must come to an end. If social media hearsay is to be believed, the flying experience that sets Vistara apart from other airlines might change after its merger with Air India in November.“Slightly late to the Vistara party! It’s merging with Air India as soon as next month…and then it will not be as fancy,” Swarada Chitale Patwardhan, CMO at Global Synergizers, a social impact consulting firm headquartered in Mumbai, warns.“If you liked it now, you would've loved it earlier! Its downward spiral started right after TATA made their intention to merge it with AI [Air India] public,” Rakesh Mishra, an author, said.Mainak, a stock-market investor, disagrees. According to him, the Vistara-Air India merger would have little impact on the airline’s flight experience.“Air India is upgrading its narrowbody fleet, with new aircraft deliveries and the refitting of legacy planes featuring entirely new interiors,” he Mainak said.
