Bengaluru: A 3.14-km Green Line extension is ready to launch, and people are eagerly waiting for the government to release the date of its launch for commercial operations. The new line connects Nagasandra to Madavara that would completely change the commuting scenario for those living in Nelamangala, Madanayakanahalli, Makali. This line would significantly cut down travel time between key locations in the city. While people awaits the launch, popular figures and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have questioned the state government for “punishing Bengalureans by delaying the opening”.Lok Sabha MP from Bengaluru South and BJP leader Tejasvi Surya asked why the Siddaramaiah-led Karnataka government is postponing the Green Line extension launch. The BJP Minister also highlighted that the government has taken no action even after receiving CMRS’ approval nearly 15 days ago.In a tweet on X, formerly Twitter, Surya shared that the state government is yet to write a letter to the Centre to start operations at the upcoming metro line. “It’s been 14 days since the CMRS approval. The State Govt has yet to write to the Union Govt to start operations. Even yesterday, I checked with BMRCL MD on the status of the State Govt letter. Urge Sri @DKShivakumar to expedite this in the interest of public,” wrote Tejasvi. He remarked on a post concerning troubles while travelling to GG Palya without metro.
Mohandas Pai, former Infosys CFO TV Mohandas Pai, joined the conversation, and asked, “@CMofKarnataka@siddaramaiah why are you unnecessarily punishing Bangaloreans by delaying the opening? It shows govt to be lethargic, uncaring of citizens. Big shame on govt. @DKShivakumar Minister Pl intervene urgently. Show us you care @lkatheeq”It’s been 14 days since the CMRS approval. The State Govt has yet to write to Union Govt to start operations.

The post that sparked a debate on the Green Line extension opening stated how a man commutes daily from Nelamangala to GG Palya by bus that takes around 50 minutes. However, he has to take another bus for the next 30 minutes to reach PES College.@CMofKarnataka @siddaramaiah why are you unnecessarily punishing Bangaloreans by delaying the opening? About The Green Line ExtensionThe new stations will be at Manjunatha Nagar, Chikkabidarakallu and Madavara (new terminal). A report by The New Indian Express stated that the authorities are sprucing up the interior for the inaugural ceremony that may be happening anytime this week. Once the Chikkabidarakallu station is opened, the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) is expected to see a rise in footfall. It is because the station is located right in front of the centre that hosts the biggest exhibitions in Asia.Meet @DarshanGowdaCD1 .He travels from Nelamangala to GG Palya by bus(around 50 min) & then takes another bus to PES College(30 min).If BIEC Metro opens, it could cut his commute time in half
