An star quit fame to go and work in a care home. Daniel Peacock is best known for starring alongside the likes of Del Boy star and Rodney's Nicholas Lyndhurst in the beloved series, in which he played Mental Mickey.
Daniel appeared in a 1985 episode which followed Del Boy's attempts to manage a band. Branded A Bunch of Wallies, said band included his brother Rodney in the line-up, alongside Mickey himself. The fictional band went on to play an in-universe Top of the Pops once Rodney had left with their hit Boys Will Be Boys. In real life, however, Daniel was ready to leave fame behind, and decided to purchase a caravan in Kent to "get some solitude" after making it big on telly. He told MyLondon: "I've always loved holiday parks. So there I am in my caravan, writing every now and then, enjoying no pressure and stress.
"My son Charlie said, 'Dad, you're watching way too much television' and suggested I get a job." Daniel followed that advice, and took on a role in a Hastings nursing home.
The star says his job has "made him a better person" after being inspired to start a caring role after a family tragedy.
He lost his own dad - fellow actor Trevor Peacock - to Alzheimer's in 2021, and explained: "Because my dad had been in a residential home, tragically, with the most awful disease Alzheimer's, it was the first time I came face to face with this terrible condition."

His dad's care home wasn't "overly impressive", with Daniel confessing that he wanted to "inject some entertainment" for the residents living under his care.
Aside from his regular job, Daniel has also written TV comedy Marley's Ghosts, which aired from 2015 until 2016. He continues to act, having starred in a 2022 episode of Strike and a 2014 episode of comedy Toast of London.
