Man Utd 'open talks with Alphonso Davies' as INEOS could pull off incredible free transfer

have reportedly opened talks over an audacious move to sign Alphonso Davies from on a free transfer.

In the latest display of INEOS' ambitions in the transfer market, United chiefs have started discussions with the 23-year-old's representatives to discuss a potential switch to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have moved quickly in an attempt to snatch the Canada international from the under noses of Real Madrid, who were previously understood to be leading the race for his signature.

Davies' contract is due to expire in the summer of 2025 and, despite the fact the Bundesliga giants have made several offers to the left-back to renew his deal, he is yet to sign on the dotted line.

United officials have gathered 'extensive information' on the player in recent weeks after scouting the player. Davies has now emerged as their top target, with keen to resolve their issues at left-back.

The Dutchman has been without Tyrell Malacia for the best part of a year after he was sidelined, while Luke Shaw's long-running injury issues show no sign of abating.

Ten Hag has been forced to use Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez as makeshift left-backs with some underwhelming results. And it appears Ratcliffe and sporting director Dan Ashworth are looking to secure a bargain signing by snapping up Davies.
