The report adds that Real Madrid are keen on signing Rodri from Manchester City to shore up their midfield ranks. Chelsea playmaker Enzo Fernandez is listed as a back-up option in case the Premier League champions refuse to do business.
Liverpool are said to believe that Tchouameni has the ideal profile for their defensive midfield role under Slot. Ryan Gravenberch has excelled in that position of late but it seems the Reds are still looking to upgrade on the Dutchman.
They tried to strengthen in the middle of the park during the summer but were unable to improve on the options already at their disposal. Martin Zubimendi was their top target .
It remains to be seen if Real Madrid would be willing to sell Tchouameni in January or if they would only consider letting him go at the end of the season. He remains tied down until 2028, having signed a six-year deal upon his arrival at the Bernabeu.
Tchouameni is currently nursing an ankle injury which is expected to keep him on the treatment table for around four weeks. He was booed by Real Madrid fans after making a mistake against AC Milan on Tuesday before being hooked at the interval.
He is also yet to score or provide an assist despite making 15 appearances in all competitions so far this season. Tchouameni's stuttering form may have influenced Real Madrid's decision to seek alternative options, which could allow Liverpool to pounce.
Only time will tell if the Reds can finally land their man over the coming months, with his current employers seemingly open to letting him leave.
