The last thing train passengers want to experience is a - yet for many that is often the reality. Now, a train conductor at London Northwestern Railway has revealed on securing the quietest spot on the train without any additional cost. The easy hacks are claimed to even work on bagging the spots during peak travel times.
In the last 30 days, recent searches for "cheap first class train tickets" have soared by 5,000%, highlighting that passengers want a "quieter, more peaceful" journey without the higher prices. Fortunately, Brits can get just that with the train-conductor-approved hacks provided to ensure they enjoy a more relaxing trip.
First, passengers are advised to use London Northern Railway's "how busy is my train" tool, where you can enter your departure station, destination, date, and time and find out how busy or quiet your train is predicted
The trains are split into "quiet, moderate, busy, and standing expected levels," and information is calculated based on the train's "average demand on a typical day".
Passengers should also avoid middle carriages of a train. The train conducter said: "The middle carriages of the train will typically be the most popular, especially for large group, as they tend to have social seating and are nearest to the toilets."
Instead, passengers are advised to walk further down the platform and aim for the end carriages as "fewer people means less noise".
Once your are in your chosen carriage, a seat away from the toliets or amentities is the best option "as people coming in and out may be distracting". Seats away from train doors are also a good one to stear away from as it is usually where people with shorter journeys stand and chat.
This last tip involves avoiding an area where most people like to find themselves - four seaters. The train conducter added: "While it's always tempting to go for that extra legroom, four-seaters with a table are magnets for friends and family, so finding a seat away from these is always helpful if you're looking for a quieter journey."
