Hosts of GB News have delivered yet another blow to Sir Keir Starmer's Labour government. Deputy Editor of the Spectator, Freddy Gray, appeared on the news channel to discuss the prison service mistakenly releasing a second migrant on the sex offenders list.
While there, he ripped into Deputy Prime Minister, David Lammy, saying: "Everybody had a very good laugh at David Lammy's expense yesterday, because he had a disastrous PMQs." The show guest pointed out a few things that went wrong from the politician, including him being "very angry", having issues with wearing a poppy and he "didn't want to commit career suicide". He said: "That's why he didn't want to talk about this terrible error of releasing this prisoner. But what is actually surprising is how much this happens. And it's not just a Labour problem, as much as I would like to blame it on this terrible government."
Mr Gray continued to say that it ties into a much broader thing, "which is that Labour's grip on justice is very, very bad and there's a lot of offenders being released and a lot of very dangerous migrants coming into the country who are not being checked and assessed properly."
He added: "The released prisoners thing shows that our justice system is failing too, and I'm afraid it's a kind of classic broken Britain theme that is going to be with us for a few days."
It follows Mr Lammy forgetting to wear a poppy during his stand-in appearance at Prime Minister's Questions yesterday. Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson, who was wearing a Remembrance poppy, handed Mr Lammy his own RAF-themed badge shortly after MPs spotted the blunder.
The Labour politician went on to tell MPs that he had made the blunder after buying a new suit for his first appearance deputising for PMQs and thanked Ms Phillipson for coming to his assistance.
The Deputy Prime Minister was standing in for Sir Keir at the weekly session in the Commons, while the Prime Minister attends Cop30 in Brazil.
In his "disastrous" appearance, the Justice Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister also admitted that he can't promise more asylum-seeker offenders won't be accidentally let out of prison.
Speaking in Parliament, he said: "I suspect there will be more checks and balances we need to do."
The session turned into a bad-tempered row as he was questioned by Conservative Shadow Defence Secretary James Cartlidge - with Mr Lammy exclaiming at one point "get a grip!"
