The UK is set for more hot weather in July and gardeners are urged to take extra care of their lawn. The summer heat can put stress on our grass and cause it to become dehydrated, which leads to a change in colour and texture.
Gardening experts are urging people to do one thing this month to avoid this from happening to their lawns. It will help grass "look better and less stressed", as well as stop it from turning yellow.

According to gardening expert Peter Mills, from Silversurfers, people should raise the cutting deck on their mower to keep their grass longer. They should also keep their blade sharpened to prevent damaging their lawn.
Mr Mills, who works with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Gardening Advice Team at the Chelsea Flower Show, said: "Raise the cutting deck and keep the grass longer.
"This keeps the grass looking better and less stressed. Keep your blade sharpened too. Blunt blades rip and damage the blades of grass and therefore more die back, giving a yellow appearance to the lawn."
The hot weather and lack of rain can lead to dehydration for grass. As the blades may wilt, it's important to keep them a touch longer to ensure they maintain their upright appearance.
Experts also warn against watering grass too much over the summer months. While it may seem the right thing to do, overwatering can actually damage lawns.
Too much water can cause roots to drown and deprive them of oxygen. It can also increase the risk of lawn fungus forming.
According to experts, indicators that your grass is overwatered include it feeling spongey under your foot. There may also be a runoff of trapped moisture onto hardscape areas of your garden.
They recommend watering grass just once or twice a week during the summer months. Tools like rainguages can be used to track how much your lawn has received and adjust your watering schedule accordingly.
