While the summer holidays may soon be coming to a close, this doesn't mean you have to stop planning any future getaways. And with holidays abroad proving rather expensive even at off-peak times, plenty of Brits are instead opting for staycations. Luckily, travel experts have now shared the perfect destination for an autumn getaway, great for the October half-term or for a weekend trip.
Jamie Kirk, commercial director at Victory Leisure Homes, has recommended Yorkshire's Malton as a great choice for those planning an autumn staycation. This beautiful market town has been dubbed the "food capital of Yorkshire" and is popular with visitors whatever the weather.
Singing the town's praises, Jamie writes: "Described as 'a town of markets and makers', Malton hosts a monthly food market throughout the autumn months, meaning there's still plenty to do even when summer ends.
"Spend a morning walking the nearby rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds before enjoying good food and drink in one of the centre's cosy pubs or cafes."
Even when there's no market, there's still plenty of fun to be had when visiting Malton. Just 15 minutes from the town centre is the popular Flamingo Land Resort, a theme park, zoo and resort.
Despite previously being labelled the UK's "worst theme park," Flamingo Land has nevertheless remained popular, with some visitors even hitting back at these claims.

Taking to TripAdvisor, one fan defended the park, writing: "First visit to Flamingo Land and it did not disappoint! Great first impression as we had to collect our ride access passes - very friendly and helpful lady in the first aid kiosk who got us sorted with our wristbands.
"Most rides open and ride ops very friendly and happy to help my disabled son when he needed it getting on and off the rides."
For those who don't fancy a trip to Flamingo Land, there are plenty of other attractions in and around Malton, including the beautiful Scampston Walled Garden, and the Butterwick Alpaca Retreat, which offers visitors the chance to enjoy an alpaca trek.
Another option is the Wharram Percy Deserted Medieval Village, which has been abandoned since 1500 and is now looked after by English Heritage.
Taking to TripAdvisor, one visitor who enjoyed a trip to the abandoned village wrote: "Lovely walk from the car park to the site but people with mobility issues may struggle. It's a fascinating historical site that has been really well managed. Only a few visitors when we visited which added to the peace and tranquility of the place. Loved it!"
While another added: "After parking in the small car park we followed the signs to the medieval village! Our young grandsons thankfully had their wellies with them, as it was rather muddy in places on the walk. Fascinating insight to the past! Well worth a visit if you are in the area, and the views are beautiful."
