Send Push

An Indian Army vehicle was attacked in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday morning, but alert soldiers successfully foiled the attempt.

According to Army officials, "An army vehicle was fired upon in the Battal area of Akhnoor. No injury or casualty was reported. A search operation has been launched." They emphasized that the troops were quick to respond, preventing what could have been a serious terror attack.

This incident follows a recent ambush in Baramulla district, where two soldiers and two civilians lost their lives when terrorists targeted army vehicles. During that attack, a convoy carrying personnel from a Rashtriya Rifles unit and civilian porters was struck while heading to the Nagin post in the Afrawat range. The terrorists opened fire on two army trucks approximately 6 km from the tourist destination of Gulmarg.

Additionally, just days prior, a local doctor and six non-local laborers were killed by terrorists at a tunnel construction site in the Gagangir area of Ganderbal.

On Saturday, the Indian Army's Romeo Force, in collaboration with the Special Operations Group (SOG) police, uncovered a terror hideout in the Balnoi sector of Poonch.

A surge of terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir over the past two weeks has resulted in over a dozen fatalities, unsettling the peace in the region, particularly following recent assembly elections.
