Tributes have flooded in for a "lovely" after she was found dead at a property over the weekend.
On Saturday May 10 emergency services rushed to a residential address following reports of a disturbance at the property. Police officers arrivd at the address on Newfield Square in shortly before 10pm.
Upon arrival officers found a 71-year-old woman with severe injuries and despite their best efforts she was declared dead at the scene The local community has identified Margaret McGowan, teaching assistant from Gowanbank as the 71 year old victim of a harrowing incident.

Scotland Police have confirmed a 78 year old man has been held in police custody in connection with this incident, sparking waves of disbelief and sorrow throughout the neighbourhood, with heartfelt messages pouring onto social media, reports .
Sharon Carberry shared her condolences with: "So sad, god love her. Thinking of all her family at this very sad time." Reminiscing about the late assistant, Margaret Ball commented: "I remember her, she was a lovely women xxx". Joining the expressions of grief, Mcpherson Elle posted: "Such a shame Mrs McGowan was such a lovely woman x".
As a touching gesture, flowers have been laid near the home and local kids have contributed heartfelt drawings. Adding to the visual tribute, someone has chalked the poignant message "RIP Margaret, we miss you" onto the pavement, adorned with a love heart and a star.
One neighbour expressed their shock to the Record, saying: "It's really shocking. We just heard all the sirens at around 10pm and looked outside to see all the police outside. We knew something serious had happened straight away. A cordon was placed near the home, where an elderly couple stayed. No one will tell us what happened but everyone has been left in shock."
Another local resident remarked: "We don't want to speak about what happened. It has been an emotional day for everyone here."
A police vehicle was still present outside the residence on Sunday evening, with several officers in uniform continuing their investigation at the site. The authorities have indicated that their enquiries are in the preliminary stages but are actively progressing. Police Scotland have confirmed that there is no danger to the general public.
A representative from Police reported: "Shortly before 9.45pm on Saturday, May 10 2025 officers attended the report of a disturbance at a house in Newfield Square in Nitshill, Glasgow. A 71-year old woman was found seriously injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 78-year-old man has been detained and there is no risk to the wider public. Extensive enquiries, which are at an early stage, are ongoing."
