Murder Before Evensong cast in full as it lands on Channel 5

Set in 1980s England, Murder Before Evensong follows Canon Daniel Clement, the Rector of Champton, who finds himself unexpectedly entangled in a murder case when a dead body turns up in the church.

When he announces his plans to modernise the church, the parish is divided but things got even more complicated when a body is found.

As the police move in and the bodies start piling up, Daniel is the only one who can try and keep his fractured community together and catch a killer.

As the six-part series lands on Channel 5, here's the cast in full.

Canon Daniel Clement – Matthew Lewis

Canon Daniel Clement has lived peacefully in the beautiful village rectory for some years, along with his two canine companions, dachshunds Hilda and Cosmo.

He feels guilt about not helping his father when his shoe manufacturing business began to fail but followed his calling into priesthood.

Daniel's mother Audrey has moved in with him and harbours deep-seated feelings of resentment towards him.

Matthew Lewis takes on the role of Daniel and is best known for his roles as Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter franchise, Hugh Hulton in All Creatures Great and Small and Sergeant Drummond in Ripper Street.

Audrey Clement – Amanda Redman

Audrey believes she is Daniel’s long-suffering mother and makes this clear whenever she can. She also harbours a lot of anger.

Audrey believes in keeping up appearances and winning arguments and despairs of Daniel's lifestyle.

She feels ashamed her husband's business was financially a disaster and thinks her son should have done more to help.

Amanda Redman, who takes on the role of Audrey, is best known for roles as Detective Superintendent Sandra Pullman in New Tricks, Dr Lydia in The Good Karma Hospital.

DS Neil Vanloo – Amit Shah

Detective Sergeant Neil Vanloo had always wanted to be a police officer and joined the Greater Manchester police at the age of 18.

It wasn't what he hoped it would be and he transferred to Braunstonbury a year ago where he has been waiting to make his mark and hopefully sit his DCI exams.

Neil has been feeling incredibly lonely but when a body shows up in the church, he forms an unexpected friendship with Daniel.

Amit Shah is recognisable from roles in Bank of Dave, The Courier, The Other One, Happy Valley and Mr Bates vs. The Post Office.

Bernard de Floures – Adam James

Bernard inherited the sprawling Champton estate from his titled father, but the responsibility for running it and respecting long-held traditions have increasingly become a burden to him.

He feels he owes people livelihoods he can no longer afford to provide, and yet, as Lord of the manor, provide he must.

With one foot firmly in the past, Bernard feels himself being tugged into the new culture of the late 1980s, especially by his alternative son, whose outlook and lifestyle seem utterly incomprehensible

Actor Adam James is best known for roles in Vigil, Johnny English, Doctor Foster, The Couple Next Door and The Buccaneers.
