The public are steeling themselves for the state visit of US President Donald Trump. The 47th POTUS touched down in the UK yesterday (September 16) and will jet off again on Wednesday, September 18. Many might be breathing a sigh of relief that his stay is so brief, as memories resurface of his previous encounter with Queen Elizabeth II during his last UK visit.
A "frenzy" was whipped up when Trump and Her Majesty took a stroll together, with the American leader striding ahead of our longest-reigning monarch and blocking her from the cameras' view. This incident sparked fury at the time and, years on, it still riles members of the public.
Some are even apprehensive that the US President will repeat this discourteous act when he meets British officials this week.

A post on the r/Pics Reddit page saw users debate how impolite it was of President Trump to walk ahead of the Queen and obscure her from sight.
One individual commented: "This is just a great depiction of who Donald Trump is. He cares only for himself." Another accused: "Rude and vulgar, the stereotypical bully."
A third added: "It's like he always purposely does exactly the wrong thing." Beyond their official statuses, some suggested that, on a basic human level, Trump should have allowed the Queen to walk ahead.
One person proposed: "Just forget who they are for a moment: How about as a human being you just be mindful of the older lady and let her pass ahead of you safely." Another added: "No matter your political associations, one needs to admit the guy has no manners."
A third added: "He's weird. Would you go visit an elder and then cut in front of them? Not in my family. Have some manners, man!"
Some suggested that Trump was making a statement by not walking side by side with the Queen. One user proposed: "As an American official, protocol is to walk side by side, since no King or Queen is above us.
"The Irish like to put their hands in their pockets when royalty or a British official is around. It's a protest to monarchy and a remembrance of Irish independence."
However, this theory was questioned by others, with one suggesting Trump was simply an "oaf walking past and cutting off an at-the-time 92-year-old woman".
In his biography, A Voyage Around The Queen, Craig Brown claimed the late monarch found President Trump "very rude".
She reportedly "particularly disliked" how he "couldn't stop looking over her shoulder, as though in search of others more interesting".
Trump's state visit this week will see him meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and King Charles III.
