With life being so busy, we could all do with an extra helping hand around the house. To save time and effort, there are many home devices that you can now control with just your voice - and one in particular has been described as a ‘game-changer’.
The Echo Dot (newest generation) on Amazon, which is currently available for £29.99, has been heavily reduced by nearly 50% from its original price of £54.99. But be aware that this price offer ends on October 14 at 11.59pm, so shoppers need to be quick.
The device offers a rich, vibrant sound, with improved audio, the brand says. Customers can enjoy music, audiobooks, and podcasts via Wi-fi or Bluetooth, and they can ask Alexa for weather updates, timers, answers and playful interactions.

The Echo Dot (newest generation) is available in three colours, including charcoal, deep sea blue and glacier white, all with the current discount of 45%. The range of colours and its small dimensions of 100 x 100 x 89mm mean it will suit any interior.
As an alternative, customers can look to purchase Google’s Home Charcoal Smart device from B&Q. Currently at a discounted price of £44, reduced from £89 and then £64, this piece of tech is voice and app-controlled, with a speaker that delivers a rich sound.
Shoppers can also buy Apple’s HomePod (2nd generation). Although more expensive, at a price of £299, the brand says it has an immersive sound system, spatial audio, room sensing, sound recognition and Siri, which can assist with specific requests.
The Echo Dot (newest generation) is well-liked by customers, who have given the product an average 4.7 out of five-star rating, from more than 46,000 reviews. Shoppers have praised many aspects, including its ‘sleek, compact design’.
One person said: “The newest Echo Dot is a game-changer. Despite its small size, it delivers an impressively big, vibrant sound with rich bass and clear vocals - perfect for music, podcasts, or even just asking Alexa for the weather.”
Others have celebrated the device and how multi-purpose it is, saying: “The newest Echo Dot is exactly what I was looking for. It does everything I need, from playing music to setting reminders and controlling smart devices.” Another discussed how the latest version has improved upon the last. They wrote: “The sound is much richer compared to older versions - clearer vocals and a surprisingly good bass for such a small speaker.”
In contrast, some shoppers have left more critical feedback. One said: “Good product, still serves. Just not as intelligent as I would expect.” Another wrote: “Probably a device I couldn’t go without anymore. My only issue with it is that sometimes it struggles to pick up my voice on rare occasions but that might just be due to where I have it positioned.”
