Three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack were killed in Operation Mahadev. The funeral procession of Tahir Habib, a terrorist killed in this operation, was taken out in his village in Gab, Pakistan. This incident has once again exposed Pakistan.
The 'janaza-ghaib (funeral in the absence of a person)' of Tahir Habib, one of the terrorists killed under Operation Mahadev in Jammu and Kashmir, was performed at his village in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, confirming for the second time the involvement of Pakistani terrorists in the April 22 Pahalgam terror incident in which 26 civilians were killed.

Videos and photos posted on Telegram channels show the elderly at Khai Gala in Rawalkot, Pakistan, gathering to offer final prayers for the deceased former Pakistani soldier and Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist. But Tahir's funeral took an unexpected turn when local Lashkar commander Rizwan Hanif tried to join in.
Tahir was killed in Operation Mahadev.
According to a report published in the Times of India, Tahir's family had clearly refused to allow Lashkar members to attend the funeral, but Hanif insisted, leading to a confrontation. Tahir's association with Lashkar and his role in the Pahalgam attack made him part of the 'A grade' terrorist group. His killing along with two others during Operation Mahadev in Srinagar last week was a major success for the Indian security forces.
A source said that during the funeral, "Lashkar operatives threatened the mourners at gunpoint, leading to outrage among the villagers. Residents of Khai Gala, who have long been apprehensive about terror and radicalisation, are now planning a public boycott to protest terrorist recruitment."
Pakistan's secret is out
The development is significant as it not only highlights the growing resistance among Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) residents against Pakistan-sponsored terror machinery but also confirms that the impact of Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam attack, is being felt across the border. "A LeT commander facing public outrage and being forced to flee is proof of the changing situation in the region," the source added.
Who was Tahir Habib
Tahir's past includes links with Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) and Student Liberation Front (SLF) before joining the Pakistan Army. The Sadozai Pashtun community to which Tahir belongs has a rich history of resistance. The community came from Afghanistan in the 18th century and played a key role in the Poonch rebellion. This also earned Tahir the nickname 'Afghani', by which he was known in intelligence records.
