Navi Mumbai: In a major boost to its revenue collection, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has collected Rs 13.16 crore in property tax payments within just four days of launching its special Amnesty Scheme on July 18. The scheme has drawn an overwhelming response from residents eager to settle long-pending dues while availing substantial waivers on penalties.

The amnesty scheme, which will remain in force until September 20, is designed to offer relief in a phased manner. Citizens who pay their dues in full between July 18 and August 15 will receive a 90% waiver on the penalty amount. Those making payments between August 16 and August 31 will be eligible for a 75% waiver. A 50% penalty waiver will be granted to taxpayers who pay between September 1 and September 10, while a 25% waiver will be available from September 11 to September 20.

PMC Commissioner and Administrator Mangesh Chitale welcomed the positive response and noted that the collected revenue would help fund critical infrastructure projects. These include the construction of a new civic headquarters, a fish market, multi-level parking, daily markets, schools, ward offices, and the ambitious 450-bed Hirakani maternal and child care hospital, a statement by PMC said.

To further incentivize timely payments, PMC is offering a 2% discount on online property tax payments made through the PMC website, the PMC Tax App, or the Panvel Connect App. Taxpayers who pay their dues for the financial year 2025–26 by July 31 will also receive a 5% discount on the current year’s tax.

Deputy Commissioner of Property Tax Swaroop Kharge emphasized that this scheme is a one-time opportunity and urged citizens to take full advantage of the relief window. To support the initiative and make payments more accessible, PMC has established additional tax collection centers across the city. These are located at Pride Society in Sector 7, Kharghar; Maha E-Seva Kendra in Ganga Tower, Sector 21, Kamothe; Maha E-Seva Kendra in Alyas Building, Sector 17, Motha Khanda, New Panvel; all five ward offices including the Navade Subdivision; and the PMC headquarters in Panvel.
