'Hand Of Kremlin?': Russian Foreign Ministry Official Mocks Viral 'Slap' Video Of French President Emmanuel Macron & His Wife

Hanoi: Russia's foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova took a dig at French President Emmanuel Macron after a video of his wife Brigitte pushing his face away upon their arrival in Vietnam's capital Hanoi. The incident was caught on camera and soon the video went viral on social media.

Mocking the viral video, Zakharova wrote on Telegram that Macron got "a right hook from his wife," reported global news agency AFP. The viral clip sparked a possibility of a dispute between Macron and his wife.

"Did the first lady decide to cheer up her husband with a gentle pat on the cheek and miscalculate her strength? Was she handing him a tissue, but missed? Did she want to fix his collar but ended up reaching the beloved face?" said Zakharova as reported by AFP.

She further stated, "Here's a hint: maybe it was the 'hand of the Kremlin'?"

In the video, it could be seen that the French President could be seen moving his face away from Brigette's hand. Netizens are interpreting that Brigette 'slapped' Macron and the incident was part of a dispute between the two.

However, Macron denied rumours of ant domestic dispute with his wife. He said that they were "joking as we often do". He said that the video has been misinterpreted. "None of these are true" and "everyone needs to calm down", he said as reported by the news agency.

Earlier this month, another video of Macron went viral on social media in which the French President carrying a pouch having white substance. The moment was caught during a train ride from Poland to Ukraine when reporters entered the room. Macron was meeting with the Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Zakharova and the American conspiracy theorist Alex Jones accused Macron and other leaders of using drugs on the train. Notably, reports they mistook a crumpled tissue for a bag of cocaine.
