Akshay Kumar's most awaited courtroom drama 'Kesari Chapter 2' has been released worldwide today and is showing signs of strength at the box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has earned Rs 2.06 crore in booking. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, the film also stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday. Initial reviews are calling it excellent and exciting, due to which the film is expected to have a good start.
Based on a true incident, 'Kesari Chapter 2' focuses on the courageous life of C. Shankaran Nair, a barrister who fought in court against the British Empire after the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Akshay is playing the role of Nair, while R Madhavan plays British lawyer Neville McKinley and Ananya Panday is playing Dilreet Gill. The film is based on the book 'The Case That Shook the Empire' by Raghu Palt and Pushpa Palt.
During a recent press conference, Akshay Kumar officially confirmed that Kesari will get a third part. The actor revealed that Kesari 3 will be based on the life of the great commander of the Sikh Khalsa Army, Hari Singh Nalwa. The announcement has left fans excited as the franchise is set to unravel another heroic chapter of Indian history.
