How Shah Rukh Khan's US visits help him stay humble and grounded. Old interview resurfaces after Met Gala

In a speech given at Yale University in 2012, Shah Rukh shared how he uses visits to the United States to help him stay grounded. He explained that whenever he starts feeling overly confident or arrogant, a trip to the US is his remedy. Reflecting on an incident at an airport, Shah Rukh recalled, "We were detained at the airport for an hour and a half. It was nice and it always happens. It's nice, you know—whenever I start getting too arrogant about myself, I always take a trip to America."

For Shah Rukh, the experience of being just another passenger in an airport in the US, often subjected to routine checks and questioning, is a powerful reminder of the fleeting nature of stardom. He humorously added, “Yeah. The immigration guys kick the star out of stardom." Despite the inconvenience, he found joy in small moments, like the recurring questions about his height. “They always ask me how tall I am and I always lie and get away—five feet ten inches. Next time I’m going to be more adventurous. What color are you? I am going to say white.”

The 2025 Met Gala Controversy

Shah Rukh’s long-awaited Met Gala debut was far from what fans had anticipated. While his ensemble—crafted by designer Sabyasachi—earned praise for its intricate craftsmanship, the event itself was marred by awkward moments, particularly the unfamiliarity shown towards the Bollywood star by some foreign media figures. The livestreamed Met Gala featured interviews by Ego Nwodim and Teyana Taylor, both of whom seemed unaware of Shah Rukh Khan’s prominence. This led designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee to step in, explaining the star’s significance on live television. This moment, however, upset many of Shah Rukh's fans, who voiced their displeasure at what they saw as disrespectful treatment.

To make matters worse, a foreign journalist allegedly asked the superstar, "Who are you?" as he made his way down the red carpet. This interaction sparked outrage online, with many expressing their anger over what they felt was unfair treatment towards one of the most celebrated actors in the world.

Shah Rukh Khan's Upcoming Projects

Despite the controversy surrounding the Met Gala, Shah Rukh’s career continues to soar. He is set to star in the upcoming action film King, which is already generating significant excitement.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, who previously collaborated with Khan on the blockbuster Pathaan, King is expected to be another major success. Fans are eagerly awaiting the film, especially with rumors that it will feature Shah Rukh’s daughter, Suhana Khan, in her acting debut, alongside Abhishek Bachchan.
