India reported 2,710 active Covid-19 cases as of May 30, with a rise of 511 new cases from the previous day. Seven deaths were recorded across multiple states, taking the total number of deaths since January 1, 2025, to 22, as per government data.
Kerala remains the worst-affected state with 1,147 active cases, witnessing an increase of 227 new infections. Maharashtra follows with 424 active cases, up by 40 cases in the last 24 hours. Delhi also saw a significant spike, adding 56 new cases, bringing the total to 294.
Recoveries continue to improve, with 255 patients discharged or migrated in the last 24 hours. The cumulative number of recovered cases since January 1 stands at 1,170. Kerala (72), Delhi (77), and Maharashtra (34) contributed the highest number of recoveries on the day.
Among the states that reported deaths, Maharashtra recorded the highest with two fatalities. A 67-year-old male patient with ARDS, left lung pneumonia, and comorbidities such as diabetes and hypertension tested positive for Covid-19. Another death was of a 21-year-old male suffering from diabetic ketoacidosis with lower respiratory tract infection, which was later reconciled as Covid-related.
Tamil Nadu reported one death, a 60-year-old male with Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease.
Karnataka’s fatality was a 70-year-old male with acute cardio-respiratory arrest and several underlying conditions. Covid-19 is suspected; the RT-PCR result is awaited.
Delhi reported the death of a 60-year-old female with acute intestinal obstruction post-laparotomy. Covid-19 was found incidentally.
In Gujarat, one death was recorded, with details yet to be confirmed.
Punjab reported a 39-year-old male with Hepatitis B and acute respiratory syndrome.
No deaths were recorded in Kerala, but the state health department noted that reconciliation of mortality figures is still in progress.
