UK to be hotter than parts of Spain as weather forecast says mercury to rocket

Some parts of the UK will be than regions in Spain this week, maps show.

The mercury will reach 16C across Yorkshire and Humber on Friday, meteorologists say. It maintains a steady week of pleasant weather, during which and in Bridlington, East Yorkshire on Tuesday.

Conversely, it has been relatively dry across the UK this week. Its weather has been influenced by a different jetstream to the one causing the destruction - and cooler temperatures - across Spain. It will be as warm as 15C across the Midlands on Friday - the first day of November - and 14C along most of the south coast of England.

The weekend looks bright and sunny too, the says. Writing on its website with a look into next week, the weather service says: "High pressure is likely to dominate the weather across many parts of the UK during this period. This will mean plenty of dry and settled weather for most, although it may be fairly cloudy at times. Where skies clear overnight some areas of fog and frost are likely to develop. Southern areas are expected to be mainly dry during this period.

"Winds will likely be light in the south, but there could be some spells of strong winds across the north and west. Temperatures will probably be close to normal overall, although some cold nights are possible at times."
