Fans of The Chase were heartbroken to see a contestant get tripped up in a move they deemed unfair.
has been on since 2009 and sees guide a team of players as they take on a high IQ quizmaster in the hope of winning a cash prize. On Wednesday, viewers saw a group of four hopefuls take on Shaun ‘the Dark Destroyer’ Wallace in a bid to win themselves some money.
But fans were up in arms when one of the contestant saw an answer get disallowed - even though the answer was deemed correct by many tuning in. The drama unfolded as a 20-year-old contestant called Max was answering questions during his cash builder round.
Show host Bradley asked: “Lebron James is one of so called playmakers for what console brand?” And Max quickly replied "PS4" - and viewers were shocked to hear his answer was not permitted. PS4 is an abbreviation for Playstation 4 - the console made by Japanese giants Sony.

Many watching at home took to social media to hit out at Bradley's tough scoring. One wrote on X: "I was waiting for them to allow that!!. PS4 is PlayStation!” Another typed: “PS4 is PlayStation." A further fan wrote: "Surely you’d accept PS4?” and another huffed: “Another answer robbed! PS is Playstation!!”
But others felt it was fair to dismiss Max's answer as the question had been about a brand, not a console. One wrote: "Complaints about the PlayStation question, Bradley asked For BRAND, NOT A SPECIFIC CONSOLE! He shouldn't have got through!” And another agreed, writing: "But it's a standalone console, not a console brand.”
Earlier this year, Bradley revealed when he will retire from hosting The Chase - which has now been on air for 15 years. He told the Daily Mail: "Until people say they've had enough and start switching off I'll do it. We've had such an extraordinary time together. It's the best job in the ."
The star went on to explain that he could see how successful the show would become when he recorded the first ever episode. He recalled: "The audience was made up of ITV bosses and they found someone in the office to be a contestant. Straight away I took the contestant's side. I saw the Chasers as these big, all-knowing, bully types, so I started taking the mickey out of them.
"When they got a question wrong I really gave it to them, and everyone was laughing. That's when I knew we had something. Normally with a quiz show you're handcuffed to the format, but this meant I could go off script and improvise. It was like doing stand-up in the middle of a quiz show, which I loved. So right from that very first run-through I thought this could be special."
