MTV star almost paralyzed and eyesight damaged in horror stage fall

Spanish singer and Mario Vaquerizo was knocked unconscious in a horror fall from a revolving stage.

The showman, 50, took a nasty tumble and admitted he "could have died or been left paralysed" by the scary moment.

Mario ended up in after twisting backwards and falling head first. He had been seen stumbling in his platform shoes as he entertained the crowd. The fall came as he punched the air following the end of a tune as he performed on stage with his group, Nancys Rubias. The Mexican-born singer-songwriter was later seen leaving a hospital near Spain's western border with Portugal in a wheelchair.

Speaking from his home in Madrid, Mario said he had fractured two vertebrae in his spine following the fall. However, he says it's the impact the incident had on his vision that is worrying him the most.

According to the Mail Online, he said: "The doctors have said the fall generated a liquid which invaded the retina and at the moment everything's blurred and I can't see anything close-up. All the doctors and nurses have said I was very lucky. A fall like that can kill you or leave you paralysed."

He added that all procedures in place for the show were okay and the fall was simply bad luck after he tripped and lost his balance. "'I've never been knocked out like that," he added. "I woke up in my dressing room with my friends around me crying."

The star rose to fame on the Spanish version of MTV after starring in a reality series alongside his actress with Alaska.

In his music band, Mario takes on the persona of Anorexic Nancy. The glam rock and punk rock band have released five albums since forming in 2004. The group also consists of two men and a woman known by their stage names of 'Nancy O', 'Transvestite Nancy' and 'Nancy Reagan.'

There have been a number of falls on stage recently. During Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, one of her. Thankfully, Kam Saunders declared he was "fine" shortly after the incident.

Country star Nate Smith also during a concert in August after he lost his footing while singing. And last week while she was performing in Melbourne. She was in the middle of singing in front of around 14,000 fans at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena which was her fourth and final concert in the city.

Despite fans being left shocked during the moment, Olivia confirmed that she was okay following the incident. The video shows the singer shouting: "Oh, my god! That was fun. I’m okay."
