Diogo Jota injury latest as Arne Slot provides worrying update on Liverpool star

Liverpool is that forced to be substituted during the first half of the Reds' victory over in the . Arne Slot, however, says he doesn’t expect to have him available for midweek against RB Leipzig in a worrying initial update.

Jota left the pitch during the first half of the 2-1 win at after initially battling on for a while. Unable to shake off the issue, replaced him after half an hour with the Uruguayan impressing aside from a couple of risky moments when he was already on a booking.

Jota is now set to be assessed by the medical team before a full verdict can be reached. While he is likely to sit out the trip to Germany and no risks will be taken with his fitness, there is no timeframe on when he might be back or exact prognosis just yet.

"Diogo had to be substituted and I am not sure what it is, but I’d be surprised if he is there on Wednesday," Slot admitted to reporters at Anfield. The Reds' number 20 has had his fair share of injury setbacks since signing from Wolves but will hope that this is only a minor setback that won't keep him out for too long.

Liverpool.com says: Losing Jota for any spell in the season would be a blow but not least when such a crucial run of fixtures are coming just around the corner. Nunez looked good against Chelsea but Jota is the more predictable and reliable of the two when he is fit. The only drawback with the Portuguese is that he does tend to pick up issues from time to time.
