During a thrilling episode of BBC's Bargain Hunt, one couple was left gobsmacked after turning a tidy profit from an item worth just £14.
In the episode re-aired on Saturday (October 19), the show's presenter, Christina Trevanion, took television audiences to Nottinghamshire where two eager teams were poised for the antique showdown.
Stealing the spotlight were the Blues - nursery practitioner Louise and Risk manager Jonathan - who, with some sage advice from expert Roo Irvine, embarked on a mission to sniff out three potential money-making items for the auction block.
Tasked with hunting down something linked to entertainment, the pair shelled out £90 on sombre mourning brooches, nabbed antique opera glasses for £25, and finally, picked a set of six teaspoons at a steal for £14.
Show host Christina couldn't help but express her admiration for the couple's choices, saying: "Jonathan and Louisa, I love your taste and I don't think there is anything there that I don't like.", reports .
When quizzed about their favourite find, Louisa shared: "My favourite was the silver spoons."
The bargain price of the spoons left Christina astonished as she inquired: "Why did you manage to get them for £14? " To which Louisa responded proudly: "I think we've done quite well."
As auction time loomed, the duo's first itempurchased for £90fetched £110. Unfortunately, their second treasure didn't fare as well, realising a loss of £5.
However, things quickly turned around when their £14 spoons made an unexpected profit. The bidding started at £15 and rapidly escalated, leaving the couple astonished.
The item eventually sold for £45, leaving the couple overjoyed with their victory as they exchanged smiles and applause.
This resulted in a total profit of£46, before their expert's bonus buy was auctioned off. Roo had purchased a stamped sterling pin for £19.
When questioned about her price prediction for the item, Roo estimated it would fetch between £35 and £40. True to her forecast, the item sold for £35, bringing their overall total to £62.
